Anti aging society patients in the Cornish town of Hayle have been told outpatient appointments will have to be postponed because of a staff shortage.
The Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust (RCHT) has been unable to find a physiotherapist to replace a member of staff who is on long-term sick leave.
A physiotherapist from Truro who was anti aging vitamin supplement cover at Marie Therese House, is now needed back in Truro.
The RCHT is trying to find a support worker to help ease the pressure.
‘Quality of life’
Outpatients said they were area office on aging that the cut in the service would affect their quality of life.
Mark Sanders, 21, from Penryn, has cerebral palsy and says he needs regular physiotherapy to be able to maintain his mobility.
He said: “It’s important for me to have regular physio in order to keep muscles moving and to keep my standards of fitness up to a good level.
“If I don’t, then I can lose the quality of life that I have.”
The trust said it medicine hat news classifieds the decision to stop outpatient services and it had hoped to have the service running again in July, but that would not be possible.
Staffing issues
It is not known how long it will be before physiotherapy services can be fully resumed.
The trust said managers were committed to resuming the outpatient service as soon as the team was back to full strength.
Last week the RCHT said a decision to suspend a screening clinic for people with a family history of breast cancer was also taken because of staffing issues.
The trust is currently dealing with a deficit of more than 15m.
